Well, well, well....lookie here, ya'll. Tha' ol' FIRE gang is comin' on down to the Friendly State.
Can I tell you the worst part? I'm going to be SO close, yet so far away.
I take trips to visit the fam from time to time and it just so happens I will be arriving in Tejas smack dab in the middle of FinCon. I'd already booked a trip home when I learned about this gem of an opportunity to meet the tribe. Despite a lot of head-scratching, I couldn't figure out how to change the trip in a way that - well - made financial sense!
Based on all of the other conferences I've been to, that means half - at best - of the sessions will be awesome sauce. Now, I have not been to FinCon so maybe I am wrong...but it is a hella job to put on a conference with TED-like quality in presentations and oration skills. Yes, TED, you've ruined us all.
I can only guess I'll be missing out on the biggest value from attending the conference in person (meeting my peeps!), but I will say that at $100 (about a quarter of the regular fee) + avoided costs on hotel and transport, I'm feeling perdy good! For those of us that want to strike that balance of being there without pushing back their FIRE date, I'm recommending virtual attendance.
